apSynapse: Multi-criteria Decision Making Software

Organizations and individuals are often required to choose between a number of alternatives (strategies) that have numerous and conflicting criteria. For example most of the purchases an organization or an individual do are multi-criteria decisions.

Decision Process

apSynapse is a web-based multi-criteria decision making software. The automated decision process involves the following steps:

• define the alternatives
• define criteria
• establish weights (coefficient of importance for each criteria)
• enter criteria values
• choose decision method (Electre or Weight Product Method)
• automated decision: Decision Engine executes the decision method and returns an ordered list of alternatives with the best choice first.
• persistence

apSynapse is a Java based Web Application that can be run on any compliant application server. Current installations are on Tomcat, Websphere and Google App Engine.

Web Services Enabled

apSynapse is web services enabled. The service requires the appropriate sets of alternatives, criteria, weights and criteria values (as defined in WSDL), Decision Engine executes the decision algorithm and returns the ordered list of alternatives as a web services response.

Deployable on the Cloud

apSynapse can be deployed on Google cloud computing platform: Google App Engine.
When apSynapse is run on the cloud, you are relieved of all infrastructure concerns like: allocating hardware, operating system, application server installation and configuration, internet access, dedicated IP, etc. Google infrastructure team addresses all these concerns for you.
